"Regulation is pro-corruption": Federico Sturzenegger's analysis of Argentina's economy

Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation Federico Sturzenegger stated that " regulation is pro-corruption " during his participation in the documentary The Market Solution, a production by the Libertad Foundation that explores Argentina 's economic history from a liberal perspective.

"We believe in a small state so that it can give individuals greater freedom, and we believe that progress is not built by states, but by citizens. Every regulation is a potential opportunity for corruption and is very anti-entrepreneurial and anti-SME ," said the official who, within Javier Milei's government, is tasked with eliminating regulations, taxes, and bureaucratic red tape.

Along those lines, Federico Sturzenegger warned that while large companies can bear the costs of regulations, small businesses lack that capacity: "If we have a burdensome framework for these small businesses, we will never be able to develop the creativity that Argentines possess," the leader asserted in statements shared by NA.

The Market Solution is inspired by the documentary book Freedom to Choose by Milton and Rose Friedman and combines interviews, testimonies, and analyses of the effects of the size of the state, excessive public intervention, and corporatism on the Argentine economy. The documentary also seeks to strengthen economic education based on a market-based approach to generating well-being, demystifying anachronistic views that seek ever-increasing state intervention in the economy.

In addition to Sturzenegger, the documentary also featured national representatives Alejandro Bongiovanni, José Luis Espert, and Daiana Fernández Molero ; economist Jorge Bustamante ; and specialists Walter Castro, Gerardo della Paolera , Gustavo Lazzari , Juan Sebastián Landoni , and Luciano Villegas .

On his X account, the leader announced that through provisions 4053, 4054, 4055 and 4058/25 of @ANMATsalud signed by @agustinabisio3, some 60 procedures were eliminated (out of a total of more than 600) and that they are the "beginning of a path of simplification in the organization."

"This step is worth celebrating, as it involves costly and bureaucratic procedures: registration and re-registration of establishments and products that are no longer required, as well as eliminating fees associated with purely administrative procedures such as changes in legal address, business name by product, or authentications. Payments for duplicate and triplicate copies of previously submitted documents have also been eliminated, and will now be directly accessible on the agency's websites," he emphasized.
